Piñero invites nominations for third “Los + Ecoístas” awards promoting sustainable tourism

Santo Domingo.- Piñero has launched the third edition of its “Los + Ecoístas” awards in the Dominican Republic, recognizing companies, institutions, suppliers, partners, and, for the first time, content creators and media outlets that promote environmental sustainability.

The awards are part of the company’s international “We Are Ecoístas” initiative, which encourages responsible environmental practices and supports a more sustainable tourism model.

This year’s edition expands its categories to include Content Creators, Voices of Sustainability, and Specialized Media and Platforms, highlighting individuals and organizations that drive environmental awareness through communication and advocacy.

Organizations may submit nominations through September 14 in areas such as energy, climate action, circular economy, and biodiversity. Winners will be announced during a special awards ceremony later this year.

Piñero is also partnering with the National Center for Handicrafts (Cenadarte) and the Ministry of Culture to hold a competition for emerging artisans to design the official award statuette, promoting sustainable craftsmanship and local talent.

Previous recipients of the awards include Grupo Universal, Banco Popular Dominicano, Aerodom, Jardín Botánico Nacional, Cervecería Nacional Dominicana, and Evergo, recognized for their contributions to environmental conservation.
