Santo Domingo Metro temporarily closes platform after person enters tracks
Santo Domingo.- The Metropolitan Transportation Company (EMT) reported that a person entered the tracks of the Santo Domingo Metro on Tuesday night as a train was arriving at Platform 1 of the Juan Pablo Duarte station, triggering the activation of the system’s emergency safety protocols.
According to the agency, the incident occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. The platform was immediately evacuated, and the National Emergency and Security System (9-1-1) was notified to respond to the situation.
Metro service at the station was temporarily suspended while emergency personnel carried out their work.
Authorities have not yet released information about the person’s condition or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
EMT reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and urged users to comply with Metro regulations and follow instructions from operational staff to help ensure the safety of everyone.
