Roberto Álvarez receives update on Haiti’s Gang Suppression Force deployment

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez met Tuesday with Jack Christofides, special representative of Haiti’s Gang Suppression Force (GSF), to discuss the mission’s deployment and ongoing efforts to strengthen its operational capacity.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council session on the situation in Haiti.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Christofides updated Álvarez on the establishment of the GSF’s command, planning, and coordination structures, as well as the launch of operations targeting criminal gang infrastructure in Haiti.

The officials also discussed the next steps to enhance the force’s effectiveness and support efforts to restore security in the neighboring country.
