Dominican Police to deploy more than 500 officers for Santo Domingo 2026 Games

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican National Police will deploy more than 500 officers to help secure the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, as part of a comprehensive security operation coordinated by the Ministry of Defense.

The deployment will cover competition venues, the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, the Central American Village, Parque del Este, and other sports facilities. Officers will also reinforce surveillance in tourist areas and high-traffic locations to protect athletes, delegations, visitors, and residents.

The security plan will involve members of the Preventive Police, Digesett, Politur, Dicrim, and intelligence units working under a coordinated interagency strategy. Command centers and service posts will also be established at event venues to assist with emergencies, lost persons, and other incidents.

Authorities said the operation will remain in effect throughout the games and can be expanded if necessary to ensure the safety of more than 6,000 athletes, team officials, and thousands of spectators expected to attend the region’s premier multi-sport event.
