This Father ‘s Day weekend in the Dominican Republic will be very hot due to the arrival of a combined cloud of Saharan dust and Canadian smoke from the Atlantic: people with allergies should redouble their preventive measures to reduce the effects.

This was announced on Friday by meteorological analyst Jean Suriel.

“Especially on Sunday, Father’s Day, the heat index in the Dominican Republic will range between 40°C and 45°C: provinces such as Dajabón, Monte Cristi, Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde and Elías Piña will be the most stifling during the next few days,” he specified.

He also stated that particles from Saharan cloud number 12 have reached the country today, which is why the sky has become hazy: this afternoon we will have hot temperatures and possible showers due to the influence of a tropical wave.

For tomorrow, Saturday, the outlook will be partly cloudy with Saharan haze: we will have an increase in respiratory, eye and skin allergies in the Dominican Republic.

Suriel also indicated that on Monday, the effects of the tropical wave, the absence of Saharan dust, humid winds and the hot environment are expected: some rainy periods will develop after midday and during the afternoon in the Dominican Republic.
