Cabarete ready to host the surfing competition of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games

CABARETE, Puerto Plata. – Cabarete Beach is now officially ready to welcome the best surfers in the region during the surfing competitions of the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

Internationally recognized as the wind capital of the Caribbean, Cabarete has completed the preparation of its logistics facilities and competition areas to host more than 71 athletes from different countries.

The organizing committee and local authorities confirmed that the security measures, the judging panel, and the areas designated for competitors meet the standards required by international federations.

The natural characteristics of Cabarete, with its constant winds and waves, will offer a high-level technical scenario for the development of the tests.

The competitions will be held in the men’s and women’s divisions in the Shortboard, Longboard, and SUP Surf (Stand-Up Paddle) disciplines at Playa Encuentro from July 25 to July 29, 2026. Admission is free for spectators.

In addition to the sporting aspect, this event will showcase Cabarete and the province of Puerto Plata as a world-class destination for water sports, strengthening its image before thousands of national and international visitors.

Official training has already begun in the waters of Cabarete, marking the start of the countdown to the medal competition.
