Isolated showers and sweltering heat will mark this Sunday
Santo Domingo – The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) predicted isolated showers for this Sunday morning, due to lingering moisture from the passage of a tropical wave and the influence of a trough.
These rains will be recorded in locations such as La Altagracia, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, Greater Santo Domingo and San Cristóbal.
In the afternoon, the Meteorology Department reported that some moderate to heavy downpours are expected, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusts of wind in Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, La Vega, Santiago Rodríguez, San Juan, Dajabón and Elías Piña.
Likewise, for the rest of the country, we will observe sunny skies with slight increases in cloudiness.
Sweltering heat will intensify this Sunday.
The Meteorological Institute indicated that, due to the high temperatures and the humid environment, the heat index will be very high.
Therefore, Indomet recommended that the population hydrate frequently, wear light-colored, lightweight clothing, avoid direct sun exposure between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm, and try to stay in cool, well-ventilated places.
Similarly, he recommended reducing outdoor activities during the hottest hours, as children, pregnant women, and the elderly are much more susceptible.
