Immigration control Drones and patrols: this is how the operation that ended with 47 arrests unfolded
Rodríguez, DR – During surveillance and immigration interdiction operations, units of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) detained forty-seven (47) Haitian nationals in irregular immigration status in different points of the provinces of Dajabón and Santiago Rodríguez.
In one of the interventions, soldiers assigned to the Masacre post, with the support of the drone unit, detained sixteen (16) Haitian nationals, made up of fourteen (14) men and two (2) women, during patrol operations carried out in their area of responsibility.
47 foreigners in irregular immigration status intercepted during patrols
Similarly, members of the 10th Infantry Battalion, using drone units, intercepted another fourteen (14) undocumented Haitian nationals in the Los Cañaverales sector of Los Miches, Dajabón province. The group consisted of thirteen (13) men and one (1) woman.
Meanwhile, in the province of Santiago Rodríguez, soldiers from the La Leonor detachment detained seventeen (17) Haitian migrants, distributed in fifteen (15) men, one (1) woman, and one (1) minor, in the community of Coquí, section of the same name, when they entered the Dominican territory irregularly.
The detained foreigners were transferred to the corresponding military headquarters and subsequently handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for the repatriation process established by current legislation.
The Dominican Republic Army maintains permanent surveillance, patrol, and interdiction operations along the border and other areas under its responsibility, with the purpose of preventing the irregular entry of foreigners, combating networks dedicated to the illicit trafficking of migrants, and strengthening national security.
