Santo Domingo Este Malecón closed today for Central American and Caribbean Games triathlon

Santo Domingo.- The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) announced temporary traffic closures today, Monday, August 3, along the Santo Domingo Este Malecón (Avenida España) due to the triathlon competition at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games 2026.

The closures will remain in effect from 3:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and motorists are advised to plan their trips in advance to avoid delays.

Intrant recommends using Las Américas, Estados Unidos and Mirador del Este avenues as alternative routes during the event.

The agency also said the road closures are reflected in the Waze navigation app, while traffic officers have been deployed to direct vehicles, ease congestion and ensure safe traffic flow throughout the competition.
