Dominican Republic and Venezuela agree to restore diplomatic and consular relations

Santo Domingo.- The governments of the Dominican Republic and Venezuela announced Monday that they have agreed to begin a gradual normalization of diplomatic and consular relations following talks between both countries.

According to a joint statement, the process will follow a mutually agreed roadmap. The first phase will focus on restoring consular services, followed by the gradual reestablishment of full diplomatic relations under a timetable agreed upon by both governments.

Both countries said the decision aims to strengthen institutional communication and improve services for their citizens while reaffirming the longstanding ties between the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

The two governments also pledged to carry out the normalization process through dialogue, mutual respect and adherence to the principles of international law.
