Dominican ambassador receives Duarte busts for Saudi Arabia and Djibouti

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Andy Rodríguez Durán received two busts of Founding Father Juan Pablo Duarte from the Duartian Institute during a ceremony that also included planning for the country’s 2027 Independence Day and Month of the Homeland celebrations.

One of the busts will be installed in Djibouti, where the Dominican embassy in Riyadh is also accredited, becoming the second official sculpture of Duarte in Africa. The first was unveiled in Egypt in 2023 during Rodríguez Durán’s diplomatic service there. The second bust, depicting Duarte in his military role, will be placed at the Dominican Embassy in Riyadh.

During the ceremony, Duartian Institute President Wilson Gómez Ramírez said the organization remains committed to promoting Duarte’s legacy worldwide, while Ambassador Rodríguez Durán thanked the institute for its efforts to preserve and share the Dominican patriot’s legacy internationally.

The ambassador also received a Dominican flag and a collection of books and institutional publications on Duarte.
