President Abinader celebrates Marileidy Paulino’s gold medal triumph
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader congratulated Dominican sprinter Marileidy Paulino after she captured the gold medal in the women’s 400 meters at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, praising her determination and another historic performance before a packed Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium.
In a message shared on Instagram, Abinader celebrated Paulino’s victory despite the heavy rain and highlighted the discipline, talent and perseverance that have defined the Olympic champion’s career.

“You make the entire Dominican Republic vibrate,” the president wrote, adding: “What pride, Marileidy! Today you demonstrate once again that talent, discipline and perseverance lead to the top against all odds.”
Paulino thrilled home fans by winning the 400 meters in record-breaking fashion, adding another gold medal to her career and reinforcing her status as one of the Dominican Republic’s greatest athletes.
