Dominican Republic approves extradition of two nationals to the U.S.

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican government has approved the extradition of two Dominican nationals to the United States to face criminal charges, including drug trafficking, money laundering, and murder.

Under Decree No. 541-26, Fidel Antonio Knight Cerda will be extradited to answer charges related to conspiracy to distribute cocaine intended for illegal import into the United States, drug distribution, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The case stems from an indictment filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.

Decree No. 542-26 authorizes the extradition of Mario Elvin Jáquez, also known by several aliases, who is wanted by U.S. authorities on a second-degree murder charge.

The extradition requests were submitted by the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo under the legal framework established by international treaties and Dominican law.
