Government supports INTEC and AI Robotix Alzheimer’s research project

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican government will support an Alzheimer’s research project developed by the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC) and AI Robotix, which combines artificial intelligence, neuroscience, molecular biology and data science to explore new approaches to early diagnosis, prevention and treatment.

INTEC Rector Arturo El Villar and AI Robotix CEO Juan Carlos Guilbe presented the initiative to President Luis Abinader, Vice President Raquel Peña and Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza during a meeting at the National Palace.

The project uses advanced artificial intelligence models to analyze large volumes of scientific and biomedical data, identify patterns and generate hypotheses that could guide new research into treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.

The initiative brings together Dominican and international specialists, including Argentine neurologist and psychiatrist Ricardo Allegri, recognized for his work in neuroscience and Alzheimer’s research, along with INTEC professor Manuel Colomé and experts in artificial intelligence, molecular biology and data science.

INTEC said the project could help position the Dominican Republic as a regional reference in scientific research, technological innovation and health. The initiative also seeks to demonstrate how AI and interdisciplinary collaboration can address global health challenges.
