A tropical wave will bring rain, thunderstorms, and strong gusts of wind this Sunday.

The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that a tropical wave located south of the country will continue to generate favorable conditions for rain, thunderstorms, and wind gusts in different areas of the national territory.

The institution explained that, since the early morning hours, the tropical wave has caused scattered rains and gusts of wind in areas of the southeast, the Caribbean Sea, and the Central Mountain Range.

Rain is forecast for the afternoon in areas of the southeast, the Central Mountain Range, and the border region. During the night, rainfall is expected to decrease gradually as the tropical wave moves away from the country.

Gusts of wind

Indomet warned that, due to moderate wind gusts of 25 to 45 km/h, with higher gusts in isolated areas, mainly along the Caribbean coast, there is a risk of falling trees, branches, signs, and other objects that may be displaced by the wind.

Maritime recommendations

Regarding maritime conditions, the agency recommends that operators of fragile, small, and medium-sized vessels remain in port along the Atlantic and Caribbean coasts, due to strong winds and dangerous swells.

Weather alerts

Given the predicted rains and the risk of urban flooding, the National Forecast Center of Indomet maintains a weather alert for Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Monte Plata, and Monseñor Nouel.
