Free rabies vaccination for dogs and cats this Friday in Ciudad Juan Bosch

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Health will hold a free rabies vaccination day for dogs and cats this Friday, August 21, at La Gaviota 1 Park in Ciudad Juan Bosch.

The event, organized by the Center for Prevention and Control of Vector-Borne Diseases and Zoonoses (Cecovez), will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and aims to increase animal vaccination coverage and reduce the risk of rabies transmission to people.

The Zoonosis team from Health Area 1 will administer the vaccines at no cost to pets from Ciudad Juan Bosch and surrounding communities, with priority given to dogs and cats that have not yet received their rabies vaccine.

Health authorities urged pet owners in the area to bring their animals to the vaccination site, emphasizing that vaccination is one of the most effective measures to prevent rabies and protect public health.

The initiative is part of the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts, together with the VBC-RD Trust, to control rabies and advance toward its elimination in the Dominican Republic.
