LGBTIQ+ community marches through Santo Domingo for 19th Pride Caravan
Santo Domingo.- Members of the LGBTIQ+ community gathered in Santo Domingo on Sunday for the 19th Pride Caravan, an event focused on visibility, diversity, inclusion and the defense of rights.
Organized by the Friends Always Friends Volunteer Network (REVASA), the caravan began at 2:00 p.m. at the Don Diego Terminal in the Colonial City and traveled through several areas of the capital, including Ciudad Nueva, Gazcue, San Carlos, Villa Consuelo, Villa María, Mejoramiento Social, 24 de Abril and Ensanche Espaillat.
Participants carried flags, played music and chanted slogans as they made their way toward the Malecón, where the demonstration continued. National Police officers provided security along the route.
Organizers said the event seeks to promote respect, inclusion and the rights of LGBTIQ+ people.
