Miches to host Este Festival celebrating Eastern Dominican culture and gastronomy
Miches, El Seibo.- The Ministry of Culture announced that the first edition of Este Festival will take place from August 28 to 30 in Miches, bringing together artistic, cultural, gastronomic and traditional expressions from the Dominican Republic’s Eastern region.
The festival will highlight the work of local artists, artisans and creators, while providing a space to showcase regional crafts, gastronomy and traditions and promote cultural exchange within local communities.
The first edition will be dedicated to renowned artisan Genaro Reyes, “Cayuco,”, who will also be appointed honorary adviser on cultural industry policies through a Ministry of Culture resolution. The appointment seeks to draw on his experience to strengthen national craft fairs and support the development of the artisanal sector.
Culture Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo presented details of the event during a meeting with artisans and media representatives at Miches City Hall. He emphasized the importance of expanding opportunities for regional creators and bringing cultural activities closer to communities.
Authorities said the festival is part of efforts to promote regional crafts and traditions while strengthening support for the cultural sector in the eastern Dominican Republic.
