Tourism Ministry inaugurates new photo stop at Punta Rucia Beach

Puerto Plata.- Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated a new photo stop at Punta Rucia Beach in Puerto Plata, as part of the government’s program to improve public spaces and coastal areas in major tourist destinations.

The project, built at a cost of RD$10.8 million, covers 352 square meters, with an overall area of influence of 1,391 square meters. It includes a reinforced-concrete contemplation area and destination sign, along with sidewalks, curbs, drainage works, paving, landscaping, lighting and street furniture.

The intervention also included improvements to the access road and measures to protect the coastal edge.

Collado said the new attraction provides Punta Rucia with a distinctive visual identity and represents the beginning of additional improvements planned for the area.

Local residents and business owners welcomed the project, saying it was the first time a tourism minister had visited the beaches of Punta Rucia and nearby Ensenada.

Located about 70 kilometers from Puerto Plata, Punta Rucia is known for its natural beauty and tranquil waters and serves as a departure point for Cayo Arena, one of the Dominican Republic’s most popular coastal attractions.

The project was supervised by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR) of the Ministry of Tourism.
