INDOMET tracks Tropical Storm Dolly while showers affect parts of Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET) reported that a tropical wave moving away toward western Haiti will have limited effects on the Dominican Republic, although lingering moisture and prevailing winds will continue to produce rainfall in several areas.

Morning showers are expected in parts of Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, Barahona, Azua, and Pedernales, among other nearby areas.

During the afternoon, localized downpours and possible thunderstorms are forecast for Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, San Juan, Santiago Rodríguez, and Elías Piña.

Meanwhile, INDOMET is monitoring Tropical Storm Dolly over the Atlantic Ocean. The storm was located approximately 1,840 kilometers east of Martinique, in the Lesser Antilles, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h.

Dolly is moving west at 39 km/h, and authorities are urging the public to continue monitoring its development as the system moves across the Atlantic.
