Woman is seriously injured after receiving 26 stabs allegedly from her ex-partner in La Vega

A woman was seriously injured after receiving 26 stabs allegedly at the hands of her ex-partner early Friday morning in the La Cidra sector of this province.

The victim was identified as Nayeli Altagracia Capellán, who, according to her relatives, had separated about a month ago from her ex-partnerAdonis de Jesús Caraballo.

According to the victim’s mother, despite the separation, Caraballo continued to frequent the house under the allegation of giving money for the support of his children.

The woman said that the man would have arrived around 2:00 in the morning, claiming that he was on his way to work.

The chaplain would have opened the door for her and, according to the family version, he grabbed her by the hair, took her out to the patio, and later attacked her with a knife, in the presence of her three daughters.

The couple’s eldest daughter, about 10 years old, would have been the one who called for help. According to relatives, the minor went out to knock on nearby homes’ doors to alert neighbors to what had happened. However, when they went to the scene, the alleged aggressor had already left.

Capellán’s relatives also denounced that Caraballo allegedly had an arrest warrant for previous acts of violence against the woman.

The victim’s mother questioned the actions of the authorities and assured that the warrant had been deposited in the Prosecutor’s Office and later taken to the police station, without, according to her version, the arrest of the accused.

He also blamed the father of the alleged aggressor, identified as Narciso Caraballo Capellán, claiming that he was aware of the conflicts and aggressions previously reported.

The authorities must establish the circumstances in which the attack occurred and determine the corresponding responsibilities, while the victim’s relatives wait for the alleged aggressor to be located and brought to justice.

It’s a country that thinks that a woman is nothing more than property for a man. The worst part is how the government and society at large turn a blind eye to this problem.
