Honduras interested in buying Dominican-made military aircraft and armored vehicles

Santo Domingo.- Honduras has expressed interest in purchasing military equipment assembled in the Dominican Republic to strengthen its security forces against organized crime and other regional threats.

Honduran President Nasry Asfura made the announcement following an official visit that included tours of the San Isidro Air Base and the northern border, alongside Dominican President Luis Abinader.

Asfura said his government has begun formal discussions with Abinader to explore the acquisition of the TP-75 Dulus patrol and training aircraft and Furia armored tactical vehicles, both developed or assembled locally by the Dominican Military Industry (Indom).

The Honduran president highlighted the Dominican Republic’s progress in military production and said the equipment could help improve the operational and patrol capabilities of Honduras’ National Police and Military Police.

He also praised the country’s border security infrastructure, including the border wall and technological surveillance systems observed during his visit to the Dajabón area.

Asfura stressed that countries in the region face common challenges from drug trafficking, terrorism and organized criminal groups, making it necessary to equip security forces with modern technology and equipment.

The Honduran leader described the Dominican military industry as a potential model for Central America and the Caribbean, noting that regional access to locally produced equipment could help countries strengthen their security capabilities more quickly and at competitive costs.
