Five young Dominicans take on challenge to reclaim Guinness World Record for reading aloud

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Youth has launched the “Youth Out Loud” challenge, an initiative in which five young Dominicans will attempt to reclaim the Guinness World Record for team reading aloud for the Dominican Republic.

The challenge began August 31 and will continue through September 20, with the participants reading aloud continuously for 20 days under the conditions required to validate the record.

Youth Minister Carlos Valdez said the initiative seeks not only to recover the world record but also to highlight the potential of Dominican youth and promote reading, education, discipline and perseverance.

The challenge will be broadcast live 24 hours a day, allowing families, students, institutions and the public to follow the participants throughout the attempt.

The Ministry of Education selected the five readers through its PLERD program and is involving around 30 schools and 1,500 students. INABIE will provide meals, while Grupo Ramos will supply snacks and uniforms. FAIA Media is leading the audiovisual production and live broadcast.

The Ministry of Youth said the initiative aims to demonstrate how collective effort and dedication can place Dominican youth on an international stage, with a book and five voices serving as the starting point for the record attempt.
