Israel’s new Ambassador Oren Bar-El begins diplomatic mission in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Embassy of Israel in the Dominican Republic held a ceremony to mark the start of Ambassador Oren Bar-El’s diplomatic mission in the country and celebrate the Jewish New Year 5787.

During the event, Consul and Deputy Head of Mission Ilan Vulej highlighted Bar-El’s extensive career in Israel’s foreign service and expressed his best wishes for his tenure in the Dominican Republic.

Bar-El thanked Dominicans for the warm welcome and emphasized the longstanding friendship between the two countries. He highlighted existing cooperation in areas including technological innovation, precision agriculture, water management and Israeli investment in the Dominican Republic.

The ambassador reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and identifying new opportunities for cooperation that benefit both nations.

The ceremony also featured performances by Israeli artist Sharon, who sang “Hallelujah” and “Morenika” in Ladino, the historic language of Sephardic Jewish communities.

The gathering concluded with a traditional Rosh Hashanah toast of apples and honey, symbolizing wishes for a sweet and prosperous new year. Government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, social figures and media representatives attended the event.
