COE and Airport Department strengthen coordination for emergency response

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) and the Airport Department agreed to strengthen coordination and response protocols for emergencies and disasters in the Dominican Republic.

COE Director Erdwin Olivares met with Airport Department Executive Director Mérido Torres Espinal to review the operational support that the country’s heliports, hospital-network landing facilities, airfields and airports can provide during contingency situations.

The plan calls for prioritizing this network to facilitate rapid assistance, rescue operations, the transfer of affected people and other emergency logistics.

Olivares emphasized the importance of maintaining an optimized airport network for disaster response, while Torres Espinal reaffirmed the Airport Department’s commitment to providing the operational support needed to ensure a timely and coordinated response to emergencies.
