The National Institute of Technical and Professional Training (Infotep) and the El Seibo-Miches Hotel and Tourism Association (Promiches) signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen workforce training and employment opportunities in Miches and other municipalities in the Eastern region.

The alliance will develop training programs tailored to the tourism industry’s needs, creating a pool of qualified local workers to meet the growing demand from hotels and other businesses in the destination.

Training will cover areas such as hospitality, gastronomy, electricity, refrigeration, maintenance, automotive mechanics, entrepreneurship and Industry 4.0, along with languages, technology, financial management and leadership.

Promiches President William Phelan said tourism, hotel and real estate investments in the area now exceed US$1.25 billion, generating more than 6,000 direct and indirect jobs and supporting approximately 3,000 hotel rooms in operation.

Both institutions are also evaluating the creation of a Technical and Vocational School in Miches to expand Infotep’s permanent training capacity and prepare local talent for the destination’s continued economic and tourism development.
