David Collado highlights Lorena Ochoa’s visit as boost for Dominican sports tourism

Dominican Republic Tourism Minister David Collado highlighted the visit of Mexican golf legend Lorena Ochoa, describing her as an example of talent, dedication, perseverance and entrepreneurship.

Ochoa, a former world No. 1 in the LPGA rankings, is visiting the Dominican Republic as part of an agenda that includes a round at the Teeth of the Dog golf course in Casa de Campo, La Romana, as well as other activities.

During her visit, Ochoa delivered the keynote lecture “The Winning Mindset” to entrepreneurs, business leaders, golf course owners and representatives of the sports sector. She also expressed her appreciation for the welcome she received from Collado and Dominican authorities.

Collado said Ochoa’s presence highlights the growing importance of sports tourism in the Dominican Republic, while showcasing the values and achievements that have defined her career.

Ochoa is widely regarded as one of the greatest Latin American golfers. She spent 158 consecutive weeks as the world’s No. 1-ranked female golfer and won 37 official LPGA Tour titles. In 2007, she became the first golfer to earn more than US$3 million in prize money in a single year.
