Abinader leads National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader called on Dominicans to observe a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on Monday, bringing together representatives of different religious denominations and public officials at the National Palace.

Accompanied by First Lady Raquel Arbaje, Abinader said the initiative seeks to strengthen faith and hope while asking for wisdom, peace and protection for the Dominican Republic. He also prayed for families facing illness and hardship, as well as for young people, older adults and those in need.

The president emphasized that the day should go beyond prayer and become a commitment to service, solidarity and action, urging participants to leave the gathering more willing to listen, help, forgive and serve others.

During the gathering, Monsignor Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán, coadjutor archbishop of Santo Domingo, prayed for the protection of the country, its families and those facing illness and hardship, while also asking for wisdom for national leaders.

Pastor Julio Morales, national superintendent of the Council of Assemblies of God, described the gathering at the National Palace as a historic moment and praised Abinader for bringing together representatives of different churches and sectors to pray for the country.

Public servants from various government institutions also participated in prayer sessions from their respective offices as part of the initiative, which seeks to promote unity, hope and solidarity among Dominicans.
