Dominican Republic and Honduras seek to expand trade and investment
Tegucigalpa.- The Dominican Republic and Honduras strengthened their economic and trade ties during the fourth Business Forum on Export, Import, Investment and Tourism, held at the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) in Honduras.
The forum, organized with the support of the Dominican Embassy in Honduras, brought together government officials, business leaders and private-sector representatives from both countries to promote trade, attract investment and develop strategic partnerships.
The Dominican delegation included government officials Andrés Lugo, Zanony Severino, Mérido Torres, Welinton Grullón and David Herrera, along with more than 24 business representatives from sectors including rum, real estate, auto parts, vehicles, jewelry and guayaberas.
Discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade, identifying new export and import opportunities, simplifying logistics, promoting foreign direct investment and exploring public-private partnerships.
Tourism was also a key area of discussion, with participants examining opportunities for investment in tourism infrastructure and the exchange of best practices from the Dominican Republic’s hotel and tourism industry.
The event was supported by CABEI, the Honduran Business Council (COHEP) and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce (FEDECAMARA). Business meetings between representatives from both countries resulted in commercial agreements and transactions, while a follow-up agenda was established to advance joint investment projects and increase bilateral trade.
Authorities and business leaders concluded the forum by reaffirming their commitment to continued technical cooperation and to strengthening the Dominican Republic and Honduras as strategic trading partners in the region.
