MESCyT and Arajet join forces to train Dominican aviation workforce

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT) will work with Arajet to prepare the skilled workforce needed to support the expansion of the Dominican Republic’s aeronautical industry.

Under an agreement between MESCyT and the airline, the ministry will promote academic programs, scholarships and partnerships with national and international universities focused on aviation-related careers.

MESCyT Minister Rafael Santos Badía said the industry’s expansion could create thousands of new direct jobs, including opportunities for pilots, aircraft maintenance technicians, cabin crew and other specialized professionals.

The ministry will identify and promote relevant degree programs and develop scholarship opportunities for young Dominicans interested in aviation careers. It will also seek partnerships with foreign universities and academic institutions to help Dominican graduates obtain internationally recognized certifications and accreditations.

Arajet CEO and founder Víctor Pacheco welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the importance of preparing Dominican professionals ahead of the airline’s projected workforce growth and the broader expansion of the national aviation sector.

The agreement also calls for coordination with the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) to ensure that training programs comply with national regulations and international civil aviation standards.

The initiative seeks to align higher education with the needs of a rapidly growing industry while creating quality employment opportunities for Dominican youth and developing professionals capable of competing in an increasingly specialized global aviation market.
