Dominican government proposes new MLB-standard stadium as part of Ensanche La Fe transformation

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican government has submitted a bill to the Chamber of Deputies to create the Real Estate Corporation for the Transformation of Ensanche La Fe (CITELF), a project designed to redevelop underutilized land in the National District through a public-private partnership.

The proposal was presented by Executive Branch legal adviser Jorge Subero Isa to Chamber of Deputies President Alfredo Pacheco. Under the bill, CITELF would operate as a commercial company backed by the State through the Development and Export Bank (Bandex).

The comprehensive transformation of Ensanche La Fe is expected to take between 10 and 20 years, while construction of a new baseball stadium built to Major League Baseball (MLB) specifications could take approximately three to four years.

The project also includes plans to increase the real estate value of Ensanche La Fe and surrounding areas, as part of a broader urban redevelopment strategy.

Subero Isa clarified that the State would retain governance of the existing Quisqueya Stadium and coliseum. He also highlighted Ensanche La Fe’s strategic location as a key factor in selecting the area for the development.
