INDEX opens 2026 “Footprints of My Quisqueya” short film contest
Santo Domingo.- The Institute of Dominicans Abroad (INDEX) has launched the fifth edition of its “Footprints of My Quisqueya” short film competition, inviting Dominicans and descendants of Dominicans living overseas to showcase their audiovisual talent and stories connected to the Dominican Republic.
The competition offers members of the Dominican diaspora a platform to share stories about their identity, culture, traditions and experiences abroad, while highlighting their ongoing connection to the country.
Who can participate?
The competition is open to people 18 years or older who:
- Are Dominican citizens or descendants of Dominicans.
- Have lived outside the Dominican Republic for at least one year.
- Have valid legal immigration status in their country of residence.
Participants can enter the Amateur or Filmmakers categories.
Registration deadline
Interested participants have until November 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Dominican Republic time to register and submit the required information.
The rules and registration process are available through the official INDEX website under the “Footprints of My Quisqueya” competition.
The initiative is sponsored by Banco BHD, with support from the General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE) and Caribbean Cinemas, along with participation from representatives of the Dominican film industry.
The previous editions’ international participation underscores the competition’s goal of strengthening cultural ties between the Dominican Republic and its diaspora through film and storytelling.
