Dominican Republic and Portugal formalize defense cooperation agreement

Lisbon, Portugal.- The Dominican Republic and Portugal have formalized a defense cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening institutional ties and expanding collaboration between the two countries.

Dominican Ambassador to Portugal Patricia Villegas de Jorge attended the signing ceremony in Portugal, where Portuguese Defense Minister Nuno Melo signed the agreement.

The agreement had previously been signed in the Dominican Republic by Defense Minister Lieutenant General Carlos Fernández Onofre, completing the formalization process. The bilateral instrument establishes mechanisms for exchanging experiences, knowledge and best practices, while promoting technical development and training programs in defense-related areas.

It also provides for cooperation initiatives in security and defense, with the goal of expanding institutional collaboration between the authorities of both countries.
