Dominican Republic and Jordan launch visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders

Starting September 19, 2026, the Dominican Republic and Jordan will implement a visa exemption agreement allowing citizens of both countries who hold diplomatic passports to travel between their territories without obtaining a visa in advance.

The Dominican Embassy in Egypt announced the measure, describing it as a step toward facilitating official travel and strengthening bilateral relations between the Dominican Republic and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Under the agreement, Dominican citizens traveling with diplomatic passports will be able to enter Jordan without a prior visa, subject to the conditions established in the bilateral arrangement. The same exemption applies to eligible Jordanian diplomatic passport holders traveling to the Dominican Republic.

The new rules take effect on Saturday, September 19, 2026, and apply specifically to diplomatic passport holders.

Dominican citizens traveling to Jordan with an ordinary passport are not covered by the agreement and will continue to be subject to the applicable visa requirements.

The measure expands bilateral cooperation between the Dominican Republic and Jordan while facilitating travel for government officials and other diplomatic passport holders conducting official activities.
