Banco Popular teaches financial literacy to over 58,000 Dominican children
Santo Domingo.- Banco Popular Dominicano has successfully reached 58,143 children nationwide as of August 2026 through its ongoing youth financial education initiative, designed to foster early habits around saving, budgeting, and smart spending.
The comprehensive strategy relies on a variety of interactive tools, starting with the storybook “Ahorrar es Crear” (Saving is Creating), written by Laura Vicens and illustrated by Karla Peña. Since its release in March 2024, the book has logged 10,868 digital downloads and seen 18,000 printed copies distributed across educational and community events.
In addition to the book, the financial institution has collaborated with Ciencia Divertida to host 14 storytelling events and 268 educational workshops titled “Ahorrar nos hace bien” (Saving Does Us Good), directly impacting 25,641 children.
Meanwhile, the bank’s digital platform, Academia Finanzas con Propósito, offers a specialized online course called “Aventura Financiera” led by facilitator Pamela Pichardo, which has already granted 3,634 certifications to kids learning how to manage personal finances and assist their families with home budgets.
Most recently, Banco Popular reinforced its outreach at the 6th International Children and Young Adult Book Fair, held from September 15 to 20, where representatives hosted an institutional booth and handed out another 1,000 physical copies of “Ahorrar es Crear” to young attendees, parents, and educators.
