Dominican migration agencies create permanent committee to strengthen management and training

Santo Domingo.- The National Migration Institute of the Dominican Republic (INM RD) and the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) have agreed to strengthen cooperation by creating a permanent technical committee focused on information sharing, joint analysis, research and studies on migration-related issues.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between INM RD Executive Director José Benedicto Hernández and DGM Director General Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester. The institutions identified opportunities to better coordinate their technical, academic and operational capabilities and improve collaboration within their respective areas of responsibility.

The new committee will identify priority research topics, exchange relevant information and coordinate studies to improve understanding of migration trends and support institutional decision-making.

Both agencies also agreed to hold a technical workshop to review and update the curriculum used by the INM RD to train DGM inspectors and agents. The goal is to align training with the operational needs of the Migration Directorate and strengthen staff skills in applying migration procedures.

The initiative seeks to establish permanent channels of cooperation linking research, training and migration management, while promoting a more coordinated and information-based approach to migration policy and institutional responses.
