MITUR and MIREX train diplomats to promote tourism and investment
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic have launched the “Tourism Training for Diplomats” course, an initiative designed to strengthen the ability of Dominican diplomats to promote the country as a leading tourism and investment destination.
The program, hosted by the Institute of Higher Education in Diplomatic and Consular Training through May 21, brings together members of the Foreign Service, government officials, and tourism experts for a series of lectures and workshops on tourism governance, investment, air connectivity, sustainability, and strategic communication.
Tourism Minister David Collado said the initiative reflects the importance of tourism as a pillar of economic and social development. Speakers include Vice Minister Carlos Peguero, Ambassador José Rafael Espaillat, and officials from ProDominicana and UN Tourism. The course aims to equip diplomats with tools to attract investment, expand air routes, and strengthen the Dominican Republic’s global tourism positioning.
