Dominican Republic and Greece sign MOU to expand economic cooperation

New York.- The Dominican Republic and Greece signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen economic relations, promote trade and investment, and support the development of supply chains between both countries.

The agreement, signed by Dominican Foreign Minister Víctor “Ito” Bisonó and Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis during the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, establishes a framework for cooperation between the two countries.

It also provides for the creation of a Joint Working Group that will explore mechanisms to expand economic ties and facilitate the exchange of information, strategies and perspectives between the public and private sectors.

As part of his diplomatic agenda in New York, Bisonó also met with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani to discuss issues including the Dominican community in Italy, energy policy, tourism and opportunities to expand trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

UNESCO and Punta Bergantín

Bisonó accompanied President Luis Abinader in a meeting with UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany, where they discussed the possibility of establishing an institute at the Punta Bergantín Innovation Center focused on promoting STEM education.

The proposed initiative would draw inspiration from a UNESCO model being developed in Shanghai.
