Dimitri Vorbe cannot enter the Dominican Republic, authorities confirm

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic’s General Directorate of Migration of the Dominican Republic confirmed that Haitian businessman Dimitri Albert Edouard Vorbe is barred from entering the country under an order issued on October 13, 2025, based on a notification from the National Intelligence Directorate of the Dominican Republic.

In a statement posted on its X account, the DGM said Vorbe “will not enter Dominican territory,” reaffirming that the travel restriction remains in effect. The announcement comes after U.S. authorities authorized Vorbe’s deportation while he remains in custody at the Krome Processing Center following his September 2025 arrest by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Florida.

Vorbe, former head of Haiti’s Société Générale d’Énergie, is one of Haiti’s most prominent business figures and was a vocal critic of late President Jovenel Moïse. He had been living in the United States under Temporary Protected Status. Haitian authorities previously questioned Vorbe and businessman Réginald Boulos in connection with investigations following Moïse’s assassination, though no specific reason for his U.S. detention has been publicly disclosed.
