Dominican Republic and Azerbaijan agree to visa-free travel for ordinary passport holders

The Dominican Republic and Azerbaijan have signed an agreement eliminating visa requirements for citizens traveling with valid ordinary passports, allowing greater mobility between the two countries and strengthening bilateral ties.

The agreement was signed in New York by Dominican Foreign Minister Víctor “Ito” Bisonó and Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during the High-Level Week of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

Under the agreement, citizens of both countries may enter, leave or transit through the other country without a visa and remain for up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

The two ministers also signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a mechanism for political consultations and held a bilateral meeting to discuss opportunities to expand political, economic and trade relations, as well as cooperation in new areas.

The agreements form part of the Dominican Republic’s efforts to diversify its international relations and strengthen opportunities for trade, investment, tourism and cooperation.
