Santo Domingo Book Fair inaugurates Panama, José Mármol and Comics pavilions

Santo Domingo.- The XXVIII Santo Domingo International Book Fair (FILSD 2026) inaugurated the Panama, José Mármol and Comic pavilions on Thursday as part of its cultural program.

The opening ceremonies were led by Culture Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo. Panama, this year’s guest of honor, presented a pavilion showcasing the country’s folklore and traditions. The ceremony was attended by Panamanian Ambassador to the Dominican Republic Yira Ramonet, Dominican Ambassador to Panama Roberto Salcedo, and other cultural officials from both countries.

A pavilion dedicated to José Mármol, the fair’s honored author, was also opened. The poet and essayist, with more than four decades of literary work, is recognized as an important voice in contemporary Dominican literature.

The Comic Pavilion, focused on comics, illustration and visual culture, also opened its doors and featured a posthumous tribute to cartoonist Harold Priego.

FILSD 2026 runs from September 24 to October 4 at the Juan Pablo Duarte Cultural Plaza, bringing together literature, art and cultural activities for audiences of all ages.
