Police report man’s death after alleged confrontation with DICRIM agents in Cabral, Barahona
The deceased was identified as Carlos Julio Féliz Sena, who resided in the municipal district of La Lista, belonging to this municipality.
- The Southern Regional Directorate of the National Police reported this Thursday on the death of a man who, according to the institution, was wanted for his alleged involvement in various criminal acts and who was wounded during an alleged confrontation with members of the Central Directorate of Investigation (Dicrim), in the vicinity of the El Rincón or Cabral lagoon.
The deceased was identified as Carlos Julio Féliz Sena, who resided in the municipal district of La Lista, belonging to this municipality.
According to the preliminary police report, officers located Féliz Sena in the vicinity of the El Rincón lagoon and, when approached, he allegedly physically assaulted the Dicrim members with the intention of escaping.
The institution maintains that, subsequently, the man allegedly pulled a homemade firearm, known as a “chilena,” from his belt, with which he supposedly fired a shot at the agents.
According to the police version, the officers involved repelled the alleged attack and Félix Sena was injured.
The man was taken to a health center for medical attention, but later died as a result of his injuries, according to the police report.
Four court orders
The Southern Regional Directorate indicated that Féliz Sena was subject to court orders 2026-AJ0030750, 2026-AJ0001107, 2026-AJ0017630 and 2026-AJ0041559, related, according to the police report, to his alleged involvement in various criminal acts recorded in the municipality of Cabral.
The institution also stated that the deceased was listed in its files with several records related to criminal acts, which is why he was being monitored by investigative bodies.
Investigation
The National Police reported that the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, in accordance with established protocols.
He also indicated that the results of the investigations will be sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal purposes.
The version of the alleged confrontation corresponds to the preliminary report provided by the National Police, while investigations are expected to determine the precise circumstances in which the event occurred.
