Survey: PRM leads party support as Omar Fernández tops opposition leadership

Santo Domingo.- The Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) leads party support with 41%, followed by Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) at 24% and the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) at 20%, according to a September 2026 survey by SONDEOS.

The survey also found that Omar Fernández received 59% when respondents were asked which leader has the support and capacity to unite the opposition, compared with 38% for Leonel Fernández.

Regarding the 2028 elections, 43% believe the PRM will win, followed by FP at 28% and the PLD at 21%.

President Luis Abinader received a 56% positive evaluation, while 71% of respondents considered him honest. Vice President Raquel Peña received favorable ratings for efficiency (85%), honesty (84%) and transparency (82%).

The survey covered 1,200 people interviewed in person from September 22–25, 2026.
