Trump praises U.S. Ambassador Leah Campos for her work in the Dominican Republic
Washington, D.C.- U.S. President Donald Trump praised the work of U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic Leah Campos, saying she is performing very well and that “everyone is talking about it” during a White House event marking Hispanic Heritage Month.
Trump highlighted Campos’ performance after recounting a conversation with President Luis Abinader, whom he described as “a great person.”
According to Trump, he asked Abinader whether he wanted to make a change in the U.S. diplomatic mission in the Dominican Republic because, as he put it, “there are people who are not satisfied with their ambassador.”
Trump said Abinader responded, “Please, don’t even think about it, sir.”
Campos later shared a video of Trump’s remarks on Instagram, saying she was pleased to attend the White House with Dominican Foreign Minister Víctor “Ito” Bisonó and witness the importance Trump places on relations with the Dominican Republic.
“It was wonderful to be back in my country and at the White House with Foreign Minister Ito Bisonó,” Campos wrote, highlighting the friendship between the two countries.
Campos has served as U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic since 2025 and has held meetings with Dominican officials on bilateral cooperation.

Whenever Trump tells a story that includes some anecdote about someone calling him “sir,” it’s a lie
Any praising from him is highly suspect…handle with care…
