Dominican Republic honors French Ambassador Sonia Barbry
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic awarded French Ambassador Sonia Barbry the Order of Merit of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella, Grand Cross with Silver Plaque, as she concludes her two-year diplomatic mission in the country.
Vice Minister of Multilateral Foreign Policy Rubén Silié presented the distinction on behalf of Foreign Minister Víctor “Ito” Bisonó. The honor was granted by President Luis Abinader through Decree No. 657-26, recognizing Barbry’s diplomatic work and contribution to strengthening relations between the Dominican Republic and France.
Silié praised the ambassador’s dedication and efforts to deepen understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
Upon receiving the award, Barbry highlighted bilateral cooperation in areas including the economy, transportation and clean energy. She also emphasized cultural, educational and scientific ties, including French-language education, student exchanges, research, film, dance and music.
