Dominican Republic invests RD$1.9 billion in tourism projects in Samaná
Tourism Minister David Collado reviewed infrastructure projects carried out by the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) in Samaná, with total investments exceeding RD$1.9 billion during his administration.
As part of the visit, Collado launched the second phase of a road reconstruction program in the municipal district of Arroyo Barril, with an investment of more than RD$88 million.
The project will rehabilitate more than five kilometers of roads, curbs and sidewalks in communities where many streets are in poor condition. Collado said the improvements are intended to raise residents’ quality of life and ensure that the benefits generated by tourism extend to local communities.
“The benefits of tourism should reach everyone,” Collado said, emphasizing the social impact of infrastructure development in tourism destinations.
The minister also noted that the first phase of the Arroyo Barril road program required an investment of more than RD$70 million.
