Downtown Center clarifies evacuation alarm was a false alert
Santo Domingo.- Downtown Center management clarified that an evacuation alarm activated Tuesday afternoon was triggered accidentally and was not related to an emergency, briefly prompting people to leave the shopping center.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on October 6. Following the alarm, the shopping center activated its security protocols to safeguard visitors, employees and others at the facility.
Approximately 10 minutes later, management confirmed that the alarm was a false alert and that there was no danger.
In a statement, Downtown Center reported that no injuries or material damage were recorded as a result of the incident.
The administration also addressed images and videos circulating on social media, saying they should be viewed in the context of the alert and the concern it generated among people who were present at the shopping center.
Management said it is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the accidental activation and taking appropriate measures to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future. It also apologized for any inconvenience caused by the false alarm.
