Abinader to attend World Food Forum in Rome hosted by FAO
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader will participate in the World Food Forum, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy, from October 12 to 16.
The Dominican president is among the heads of state, government officials and international representatives expected to attend the forum, which will open with remarks by FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu.
The Dominican Republic’s participation comes months after the FAO recognized that the country had reached Zero Hunger status, with the prevalence of undernourishment falling below 2.5%.
Held under the theme “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow,” the forum will focus on transforming agri-food systems and promoting sustainable food production.
The agenda will center on three main areas: the Global Action for Youth, the Science and Innovation Forum, and the Hand-in-Hand Initiative Investment Forum.
The week’s program will also include the Rome Dialogue on Water, activities linked to the “One Country, One Priority Product” initiative, and discussions on food systems and Indigenous knowledge.
The forum will conclude on October 16, World Food Day, with addresses from international leaders and representatives of global organizations, including United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

After removing rice tariffs and opening the local market to mass-produced American rice?? That’s crazy.
