Accordia Shipping adds Port of Caucedo to South Florida–Dominican Republic service

Santo Domingo.- Importers and exporters moving goods between South Florida and the Dominican Republic will have a new logistics option with Accordia Shipping’s addition of the Port of Caucedo to its maritime service.

The expansion complements the company’s existing route between Port Everglades in Florida and Santo Domingo’s Sans Souci terminal, which has operated since 2023. The addition of Caucedo gives businesses access to two ports on the Dominican Republic’s southern coast, allowing cargo to be received and distributed according to each company’s logistical needs.

Operations at Caucedo are scheduled to begin in October, with an estimated transit time of about three days. The service will initially operate weekly to Sans Souci and every two weeks to Caucedo.

The expansion comes as the Dominican Republic continues to increase its port capacity and maritime connectivity. According to the Dominican Port Authority, national container traffic rose from approximately 1.8 million to 2.4 million TEUs, while cargo volume increased from 29 million to nearly 40 million metric tons.

Caucedo handled a record 1.76 million TEUs in 2025, up from 1.71 million the previous year, driven by higher transshipment activity, stronger maritime connections and nearshoring-related trade.

Accordia Shipping provides container and roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) services between the U.S. East Coast and Caribbean markets. Its RoRo service allows vehicles, machinery and other equipment to be loaded and unloaded using ramps, reducing certain cargo-handling operations.

The company’s expanded Dominican service adds flexibility for businesses operating along the South Florida trade corridor and comes amid continued changes and disruptions in global maritime transportation.
