Arajet ranks as Dominican Republic’s second-busiest airline in September

Santo Domingo.- Dominican airline Arajet ranked as the second-largest carrier by passenger traffic to and from the Dominican Republic in September 2026, transporting 158,407 passengers and surpassing American Airlines, according to statistics from the Civil Aviation Board (JAC).

Arajet recorded 62% growth compared with September 2025, when it carried 97,797 passengers. Including connecting passengers, the airline said its total reached 180,841 for the month.

JetBlue led the market with 243,955 passengers, followed by Arajet, Copa Airlines with 122,220, American Airlines with 115,406, Delta Air Lines with 94,763, and United Airlines with 94,288.

The United States was Arajet’s largest market in September, with 43,021 passengers, followed by Colombia with 35,413 and Argentina with 21,164. Mexico ranked fourth with 16,356 passengers, followed by Puerto Rico, Peru, Brazil, and Canada.

Bogotá was the airline’s busiest individual destination, with 18,413 passengers, followed by Newark in the New York metropolitan area with 16,952 and Buenos Aires with 16,025. Miami recorded 15,654 passengers, while Medellín accounted for 15,569.

Arajet founder and CEO Víctor Pacheco said the results reflect the airline’s growth since launching operations in 2022 and strengthen its position in the Dominican aviation market. He attributed the expansion to a strategy focused on increasing air connectivity, offering competitive fares, and facilitating travel between destinations across the Americas through the Dominican Republic.

Pacheco said the airline plans to continue expanding connectivity and attracting visitors, contributing to tourism, trade, and the country’s ambition to become a major regional aviation hub.
